I only had a vague idea what Casablanca was about before I saw it. I thought it was a mystery, but it turned out to be a drama/romance. It is ranked as one of the greatest movies of all time. Why? I think it’s because a story like this is timeless. It also might be a classic because so many people can relate to the characters. For example, Rick Blaine (the nightclub owner played by Humphrey Bogart) is faced with a lot of life-changing decisions, and he also experiences a combination of shock, regret, and anger about his former girlfriend, Ilsa Lund (played by Ingrid Bergman) reentering his life.

A custody fight over a little boy occurs because A wife leaves her husband because he yells at her all the time. runs away from her family father and son are left alone when a mother leaves her family. Trying to make his son happy and keep his job, Ted Kramer (Dustin Hoffman) has to learn how to take care of his six-year-old son by himself. Just when all happiness is restored, his ex-wife, Joanna Kramer (Meryl Streep), comes back into their lives and wants custody of their son, Billy Kramer (Justin Henry).

Rebecca is about an orphan (played by Joan Fontaine) who falls in love with the wealthy Maxim de Winter (played by Laurence Olivier) while she is traveling as a ladies’ companion. (A ladies companion is paid to provide company for a wealthy woman). She marries Maxim and they return to his home. But the new Mrs. de Winter finds herself being constantly compared with Rebecca, Maxim’s late wife who recently perished in a “boating accident.” This movie was exciting and suspenseful without being too violent or scary, with good acting all around.

Amadeus, based on mostly facts, is about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s life, 1756-1791, shown through Antonio Salieri’s growing jealousy and hatred. Salieri was a court composer in Vienna from 1788 to 1824.For kids -- and adults -- who are history buffs or musicians, this movie shouldn't be missed.

The comedy of “Holiday Inn” was one of Bing Crosby’s best movies. He was fabulous in “White Christmas”. Lucky for him, in “Going My Way,: he’s the best part. Other than that, it doesn’t stand out in a crowd.

“Oh, wouldn’t it be loverly?” This line, from the song “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?” that appears in the 1964 movie My Fair Lady, showcases the continuous search for success and happiness throughout the film. My Fair Lady starts off a little slowly and is a bit confusing at first, but it eventually draws you so far in that you can’t look away even for a second.

The film follows the life of an extraordinary man with a below average IQ. The lack of "true intelligence" doesn't stop Forrest. From his days as a college football player, to his service in the Army, to his time as a shrimper, Forrest proves that he has what it takes to succeed in life. With his simple innocence and his good-as-gold heart, Forrest charms everyone he meets in this heartwarming film.

This classic version of "Around the World in 80 Days" is not fun at all. After five minutes, I wanted it to be over. Mostly the two main characters, Pliheas Fogg, and Passepartout talked and danced in dull ways. When they traveled from one place to the next, it dragged on and on.

Like the modern day Ocean’s movies, The Sting mixes reality with con tricks to the point where the viewer is always kept guessing at what is real and what is staged. Characters cross and double-cross each other in an attention-grabbing film that truly stands the test of time.

The Apartment is a witty story centered around Bud's rapid climb up the career ladder from a lonely office drone to the second-in-command of New York's largest insurance firm. Winner of 1960's Oscar for Best Picture, The Apartment is the only comedy to ever be nominated -- and capture -- the coveted award. It won four additional academy awards.
